ABOUT LHHPA IN 2011

The Laurel Highlands Horse Pulling Association had a very busy and gratifying 2011-pulling season.  Once again without the help of our sponsors and members, none of the accomplishments and growth would have been possible.  Here are just a few of the major happenings that took place this year.

In just its 4th year, the pull at Porchview Arena is growing.  The number of entries continue to increase.  This pull continues to feature the best teams in the United States.  It is rapidly becoming one of the most talked about pulls of the season and is now home to the bounty pull.

Also in the 4th season, the point series is proving to be a big success.  The number of states represented and the number of pulls continue to increase.  In ’08 there were 10 pulls and two states.  This year the series features 18 pulls and 6 states.  The prize money for the winners of the series has increased to a total of $5000.

In the 7th year, the bounty pull is starting to take off as expected.  This year featured some of the best teams in the US vying to take home the extra bounty money.  Although no one was able to capture the bounty in either class, there was plenty of excitement.  Since no one was able to take home the extra money, the bounty will be even bigger next year!

This year, the association established their very own web site.  The web site features things such as the schedule, results, current point standings, rules, member, pictures, and contact information.

Last, and what we are most proud of, is the increase in membership and sponsors.  We realize that this is the only way to grow and have a strong association.  Our membership and sponsors have increased by over 25% in just one year.  We are once again very grateful for everyone’s help and participation.
